Kyffin Dress Code and Proper Attire

Kyffin students need to be dressed appropriately for the weather and to make sure they have proper attire for physical education classes.

Appropriate Weather Dress

At Kyffin Elementary, we believe in the benefits of outdoor recess and ask for families’ support in making sure students get outside for recess as much as possible. Wet socks/pants or painfully cold hands can make it very difficult for a child to focus on learning for the remainder of the day.

Please make sure your child has the appropriate outdoor clothing with them to make sure they can enjoy playing outside when inclement weather is in the forecast. We go outside when it is 20 degrees or warmer.

Proper Attire for Physical Education

Students will need to be prepared for P.E. class by wearing appropriate clothing for the activity and the proper athletic shoes. Please help your student remember to have the correct shoes for class on P.E. days.

Dress Code Guidance in Jeffco

Responsibility for student dress and appearance generally rests with individual students and their families. Students may wish to express themselves by the manner of their dress and appearance; however, students shall not wear clothing or affect an appearance at school or school-sanctioned activities or events that is disruptive to the educational environment. Jeffco Public Schools standards on student attire are intended to help students focus on schoolwork, reduce discipline problems, and improve school order and safety.

Disciplinary action for violating the student dress code shall include notifying the student of the violation and requiring that the dress or appearance be corrected before the student reenters the classroom, school environment, or school-sanctioned activity or event. At the discretion of the building-level administrator, a family conference may be held. More serious consequences may result from repeated or serious violations.
